Getting married in Venice
Venice is unlike anywhere else in the world, and it films unlike anywhere else too.
There are no cars, so your day moves at the pace of footsteps and boats. Light bounces off the water and onto the buildings in a way you won't find inland, and the narrow calli open without warning onto a square, a bridge, a view.
It's a city that rewards wandering, which suits the way I film.
Where couples get married here
Many couples marry at the Palazzo Cavalli, the civil ceremony venue overlooking the Grand Canal near the Rialto, before continuing by boat to a palazzo or garden for the celebration.
Others choose a church ceremony in one of the quieter sestieri, or elope in the backstreets with just the two of them.
Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute is a favourite for elopements, and is said to bring good health and fortune!
Filming a wedding in Venice
Venice is busy, and the difference between a crowded film and a calm one is knowing when and where to go.
Early mornings around San Marco are the best time. A private water taxi between locations isn't just transport, it's some of the best footage of the day. I'll help you think through timings so you're not fighting the crowds.
Drone use is restricted across most of central Venice, so I film here on the ground and from the water instead — it suits the city better anyway.
